The need to deepen the study of group therapy models for children, youth, and parenting has been prominent in the professional field in recent years, against the backdrop of multiple needs and limited resources in the field of mental health. The collective trauma that struck Israeli society on October 7, and its ongoing cycles of backlash and the war in which we find ourselves, has made group therapy in general and for children and youth in particular the order of the day.
In collective trauma, and especially in situations of displacement, the harm is also to self- and social cohesion and to the sense of community continuity. Group work offers a vital space for restoring a sense of value and belonging and assistance in dealing with questions, hardships and pain. Children and teenagers may use the group to share, digest and discuss with their peers. Parents and educational teams can benefit from the multiple perspectives in the group in order to digest the issues they are dealing with, expand the container for the children, and cultivate within them a renewed parental/educational position.
In order to strengthen familiarity with professional models in the field of groups working with a variety of populations of children, youth, and parents in the context of trauma and loss, we offer a series of seminar evenings and a concentrated learning day with leaders in the field in Israel.
