Aging, Trauma, and Resilience

Lecturer: Shalhevat Horowitz

Led by Dr. Liora Bar Tor and Prof. Sharon Ziv Beyman

In the lecture, we will learn what trauma looks like in the elderly and its unique impact on their lives.

We will address the core issues of aging; losses, loss of meaning, loneliness, physical changes, and social and family changes. We will explain the various components of resilience that can be relied upon in this population, with an emphasis on the treatment room, individual and group therapy.

In the lecture, we will reveal which components of resilience can be renewed and strengthened in order to achieve optimal old age, even at this time.

If you are caring for at least one adult who has passed retirement age, you must recognize the uniqueness of the trauma and resilience that is brewing within their psyche.

The old man is no longer an old man on the list, old age affects the perspective and the way of growing out of the crisis. This is your opportunity to learn the characteristics and let patients grow in a way that is possible and accurate for them.
