"Trauma... a marker of an experience that cannot, cannot be put into words... The whole point of trauma is that the mind is unable to insert it into the symbolic network, which is essentially the safety net of man, which makes the universe meaningful to him..." (Esther Peled. 2022. Orphans. In full openness and doubt) Childhood trauma occurs at stages that are critical from a development perspective and therefore leads to severe, chronic and persistent consequences in their impact on the mind. Research indicates that childhood trauma harms brain development and affects the emotional, cognitive and social development of children and youth. The more trauma is left untreated, the more its consequences are evident in the long term and in adulthood. In the workshop, we will deal with understanding the effects of trauma on the body and mind from several theoretical perspectives. We will combine theoretical understanding with clinical applications with an emphasis on the effects of trauma on parenting. We will give space to the processes of regulation, compassion and self-care of the therapists. Workshop Goals: The goal of the workshop is to help therapists better understand the nature of trauma and its impact on children and parents, so that they can refine the therapeutic map and interventions available to them, and treat in a sensitive and trauma-focused manner. The learning will combine lectures, exercises, discussion of participants' therapeutic examples, and references to recommended reading material in Hebrew and English.
