The Compass Program

About the program

The program can be studied on its own or as part of the "Sipunim - a three-year modular program for psychotherapy studies", which provides accreditation from a school of psychotherapy. Completion of the "Sipunim" program also requires studying a year of core studies for integration in psychotherapy before or after studying the program. read more about "Sipunim" >>

The vision of the program

Matzpen is the two-year program specializing in ACT studies, which is part of the psychotherapy training programs at the Mifarashim Institute, and offers comprehensive training in one of the leading and research-based approaches in contemporary psychotherapy - the ACT approach (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).

The approach belongs to the "third wave" of cognitive-behavioral therapy. At the core of the approach are the concepts of psychological flexibility and the dialectic between acceptance and change. Treatment in the spirit of acceptance and commitment is aimed at achieving greater psychological well-being, while striving for a life of meaning and fulfillment.

Dialectics is expressed through the interweaving of the ideas of mindfulness and acceptance, as central components, alongside attunement to behavior that is consistent with the values and goals that are important to the person in their life. This therapeutic approach is integrative in nature and constitutes the applied edge of a broader theoretical philosophy based on a contextual behavioral approach combined with existentialist ideas, the cultivation of mindfulness, and an emphasis on psychological flexibility.

The two-year program in ACT brings together a broad theoretical and clinical knowledge base under one roof, which aims to enable the student to develop theoretical and practical mastery of this treatment approach.

The program lasts four semesters, with two courses taught each semester and weekly group instruction. Throughout the program, emphasis will be placed on integrating learning with practice and application within the courses and instruction groups. In addition, elective courses will be taught from the rich variety of courses offered by the Interpretation Institute.

The program will provide in-depth familiarity and practice with the theoretical basis and integrative interfaces, combined with comprehensive, broad, and up-to-date training in the main methods of treatment in this approach. It will allow the lomedia to belong to a learning and creative professional community. In addition to the courses and training groups, there will be concentrated peak days to consolidate knowledge, assimilate skills, and increase belonging to the professional community.
